I posted this on my library's blog space, but wanted to post here.

So, with all of the changes happening, I guess it is time for me to really batten down the hatches, get myself going and Just Do It.
I reapplied to Mac and hope to be readmitted into the program. I will be working towards my BA in Social Sciences. I will be focusing on Anthropology and Archaeology. When I took the first course (Intro to World Archaeology), I was granted 12 units for my previous education (LT Diploma) and was thrilled. This was applied to the electives portion of the program. I so thoroughly enjoyed my first uni course, I don't know why I didn't continue. It was hectic around my personal life, but now that the second child is almost ready to fly the coop, that leaves only one to go. It will be a while with him as he is just going into highschool in September this year. At least I will be able to have more quiet time to study and reflect. I will be going through the numerous books I have found on my travels to flea markets and garage sales.
These are the titles I have purchased used so far:
An Introduction to anthropology: physical anthropology and archaeology. Victor Barnouw. Vol 1 Dorsey Press: 1971
Cultural anthropology. Marvin Harris. 2nd Ed. Harper and Row; 1987
Peoples of the past and present: readings in Anthropology. Jean-Luc Chodkiewicz. Harcourt Brace: 1995
Human Antiquity: An Introduction to physical anthropology and archaeology.Kenneth Feder. 3rd Ed. Mayfield Publ.: 1989
Readings in Ancient History: Thought & Experience from Gilgamesh to St. Augustine. Nels Bailkey. 5th Ed. D.C.Heath: 1996
People of the Earth: An introduction to World Prehistory. Brian Fagan. 10thEd. Prentice Hall: 2001 (Textbook bought for course).
Archaeology: A Brief Introduction. Brian Fagan. 1988

I think I will start reading the book by Victor Barnouw. It is old (1971), but many of the facts remain and the basic theories are sound. At least it will get me back into the way of thinking.

IF I get accepted back into the program, I will prolly be taking 1Z03-Human Journey: The Anthropology of the Past, which surveys the biological evolution of humans and their closest relatives, and the emergence and evolution of human cultural behaviour during the Pleistocene epoch; OR
1Z3-The Human Species: Becoming and Being Human, is intended to provide a general introduction to both Physical Anthropology and Prehistoric Archaeology.
The first will continue along the Archaeology path and the second will follow along the physical Anthropology path. I am not sure which way I should/could/must go. If and When I get accepted back, I will schedule an appt with the faculty to assess my standing and direction. Sounds like a plan. Hopefully it will not take too long.

Keep watching and wish me luck. I am ready to go!!!!
